Our role is to provide technical support to the design, release, stabilization, and eventual site transfer of new products and process technologies. This person will contribute to the development and release of next generation Flow Cell MFG technology by supporting highly automated and innovative processes; in addition to manufacturing sustaining efforts on optical, mechanical, and electrical systems in a high volume, consumables manufacturing environment.Responsibilities: Equipment technical lead for automated line that includes laser systems.Apply mechanical, optical, and electrical knowledge to troubleshoot manufacturing equipment issues, as they arise; in addition to understand and improve manufacturing processes.Work with lasers and laser alignment.Understand new equipment and create maintenance programs to provide continually improving equipment availability.Work with engineers to develop and implement procedures to reduce or eliminate sources of systematic equipment failures.Work with Development and vendors to design and install new equipment and technology for manufacturing.Constructs and executes controlled experiments (including DOE’s) to address yield and quality issues and drives implementation of solutions to meet production goals.Train Equipment Engineering Technicians and production personnel on procedure, process or equipment changes.Requirements:Strong demonstrated electro/mechanical aptitude is required.Experience with laser systems is required.Experience with robotic automated equipment is preferred.Ability to learn and understand component level failures in large equipment.Experience with high volume manufacturing is a plus.Good interdepartmental communication skills and documentation skills are required.Proven experience in a mechanical assembly of complex precision opto/mechanical modules and ability to read mechanical assembly drawings and Bill Of Materials (BOM) required.Semiconductor Equipment Engineering experience a plus.High level of familiarity with lasers, laser-optics, electro-optics, electronics or related technical field required.Experience sourcing instrument components from non-OEM suppliers.Preferred Educational Background: B.S. in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or Associates degree in related field plus 5 years of relevant experience.Listed responsibilities are an essential, but not exhaustive list, of the usual duties associated with the position.  Changes to individual responsibilities may occur due to business needs.The estimated base salary range for the Sr Equipment Engineer (Laser/Optics) role based in the United States of America is: $88,200 - $132,400. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
