Job Summary:
SmithRx is looking for a Healthcare Regulatory and Commercial Paralegal who will assist in drafting and reviewing SmithRx’s commercial contracts, and tracking federal and state laws and regulations in the dynamic and rapidly changing PBM industry. You will assist in maintaining SmithRx’s required licenses and responding to regulator inquiries. You will work collaboratively with cross-functional partners to support the business as it scales. You will have the opportunity to work on other legal matters as needed as part of a lean, efficient legal organization. Top candidates will have experience working on healthcare regulatory matters, in particular those affecting the pharmaceutical industry.
What you will do:
Collaborate with and build cross-functional relationships with various SmithRx teams, including the Clinical Strategy, Customer Success, and Revenue teams
Work with the Revenue team and Commercial Counsel to draft, and review commercial agreements such as SaaS, consultant, and nondisclosure agreements in accordance with established guidelines
Coordinate tracking and execution of agreements using DocuSign
Help build and maintain contract life-cycle management procedures and systems
Maintain and improve the organization and storage of SmithRx’s agreements in Box
Support SmithRx's regulatory compliance posture with various federal and state government regulatory agencies, including reviewing and helping maintain SmithRx's licensing status, assisting in the preparation and submission of periodic required regulatory filings, and assisting in the preparation of responses to regulator inquiries as necessary
Research and track new and existing federal and state laws and regulations applicable to SmithRx's products and services
Assist in reviewing, revising and organizing internal policies and guidance for the business relating to compliance with applicable healthcare laws and regulations
Effectively prioritize and manage additional ad-hoc requests and responsibilities across a spectrum of complex business, legal, and strategic issues
What you will bring to SmithRx:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; Paralegal certificate preferred
Minimum of 2 years of paralegal experience; Experience working on regulatory matters preferred
Contract management and review experience
Experience working with Google Suite (Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Docs, Sheets), Microsoft (Word, Excel), DocuSign, and Box
Strong written and oral communication skills to effectively collaborate and negotiate with internal stakeholders
Quick learner who can adapt to a fast-paced, high-growth environment and can navigate complex cross-functional situations
Works well under pressure, with regular prioritization and timely and transparent communication
Has an interest and passion for improving access to convenient and affordable healthcare
Bonus points:
In-house experience, especially experience at a start-up
Experience in the healthcare space and familiarity with healthcare laws/regulations; (experience with pharmacy benefits is a strong plus)
Located in Bay Area preferred
