The Intern will be responsible for assisting the Piping Department in a wide variety of initiatives and projects in support of the department’s projects. In this role, you will gain exposure to a fast-paced manufacturing and engineering environment which includes developing a detailed understanding of Plug Power’s products. The role will focus on the successful completion of technical projects, process improvement, documentation, and presentation of results at the end of the program.Project Summary Understanding of PFDs & PIDs. Basics of Piping Material Specifications Study of Piping Layout Design Piping Stress analysis _ Basic concepts Understanding of PFDs & PIDsUnderstating of various Piping components especially being used in H2 projects including variety of product range. Understanding its usage and purpose in design.Acquiring knowledge of different types of diagrams and drawings used in the project such as process flow diagrams (PFDs), Piping & Instrument Diagrams (PIDs) and Equipment GA detailed drawings.Identifying and acquiring knowledge of type of valves its function, selection criteria and material of construction of valves, different parts of the valvesProject-2: Basics of Piping Material SpecificationGetting awareness of piping classes, services, their design condition, materials, and its rating based on the ELX projects including 5 &10MW.To perform Piping wall thickness calculation for different sizes and materials using Internal design pressure calculation from ASME B31.3 & B31.12. Basics of Piping Layout DesignAcquiring the knowledge of development of Equipment Layout. Understanding the importance of safety in design, accessibility, maintenance & spacing requirements.Understanding the rationale behind the sizing of different facilities including array building & utility blocks.Introduction to pipe stress analysis including Sustain and thermal stresses, reading of stress report.The above-mentioned projects shall be performed under the guidance of one of the senior members of the team.Core Duties and ResponsibilitiesDevelop and maintain a detailed understanding of all Plug Power products. Work with senior level engineers and management to interpret and analyze dataAssist in developing engineering processes with guidance from senior level engineers and management.Mechanical aptitude and ability to sufficiently make minor repairs as necessary.Ability to independently set up experiments and monitor progressUnderstand engineering concepts and how to appropriately apply them in day to day projectsAbility to critically analyze data in terms of system performance and reliability.Always represent Plug Power in a professional manner and in all interactions.Perform all other duties as assigned.Education and QualificationPursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in chemical & mechanical,Prior Internship or Co-op experience preferredMust have reliable transportation to the officeExcellent written and verbal communication skillsBackground/experience with statistical analysisPossess solid hands-on approach to problem-solvingComputer and software systems skills as applicable to position including but not limited to: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and OutlookAbility to manage complex projects and multi-task effectivelyDemonstrated analytical abilities with strong attention to detailExcellent follow-through Must be driven and self-motivatedMust possess the highest ethical standards and a commitment to work qualityPay Rate:$20.07 - $26.90Plug Power Inc. is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
