Summer InternshipStatus: Non-Exempt (hourly)Department: Electrical & InstrumentationPosition SummaryPlug Power Inc. is actively seeking a highly motivated Intern. The Intern will be responsible for assisting the Electrical & Instrumentation in a wide variety of initiatives and projects in support of the department’s projects. In this role, you will gain exposure to a fast-paced manufacturing and engineering environment which includes developing a detailed understanding of Plug Power’s products. The role will focus on the successful completion of technical projects, process improvement, documentation, and presentation of results at the end of the program.Project Summary Understanding of PFDs & PIDs. Instrument Selection for Hydrogen service Impact of region wise codes and standards on Instrumentation Control system selection & deciding system architecture for Giga watt plant Instrument calculations (Level calculations, control valve CV & wake frequency calculation report) Understanding of PFDs (Process flow diagram) & PIDs (Process and Instrumentation diagram)Understating of Instrumentation requirement for various products and Instrumentation representation on PFDs & P&IDs.Acquiring knowledge of different types of symbols used in P&IDs.Identifying and acquiring knowledge of type types of instrumentation for various products and its representation on P&IDs. Instrument Selection for Hydrogen serviceUnderstating of different types of instruments and their purpose in process.Acquiring knowledge of selection of instruments based on service, pressure and temperature.Acquiring knowledge of, purpose of selecting particular instruments for various products. Impact of region wise codes and standards on InstrumentationIdentifying and acquiring knowledge of Instrumentation codes and standards requirement for EU, US, Canada, Australia and India.Identifying the differences between various codes based on region.Checking possibility to standardize instrumentation selection with considering codes and standards for various region. Control system selection & deciding system architecture for Giga watt plantIdentifying and acquiring knowledge of functional description for various products.Identifying and acquiring knowledge of system architecture and design for Gigawatt plants.Identifying and acquiring knowledge of control system selection for Gigawatt plants.Project-5:  Instrument calculations (Level calculations & wake frequency calculation report)Identifying and acquiring knowledge of calculation sheet of Level calculations, control valve CV & wake frequency calculation.Checking possibility to develop matlab calculation sheets.The above-mentioned projects shall be performed under the guidance of one of the senior members of the team.Core Duties and ResponsibilitiesDevelop and maintain a detailed understanding of all Plug Power products.  Work with senior level engineers and management to interpret and analyze dataAssist in developing engineering processes with guidance from senior level engineers and management.Mechanical aptitude and ability to sufficiently make minor repairs as necessary.Ability to independently set up experiments and monitor progressUnderstand engineering concepts and how to appropriately apply them in day to day projectsAbility to critically analyze data in terms of system performance and reliability.Always represent Plug Power in a professional manner and in all interactions.Perform all other duties as assigned.Education and QualificationPursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Instrumentation engineering,Prior Internship or Co-op experience preferredMust have reliable transportation to the officeExcellent written and verbal communication skillsBackground/experience with statistical analysisPossess solid hands-on approach to problem-solvingComputer and software systems skills as applicable to position including but not limited to: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and OutlookAbility to manage complex projects and multi-task effectivelyDemonstrated analytical abilities with strong attention to detailExcellent follow-through Must be driven and self-motivatedMust possess the highest ethical standards and a commitment to work qualityPay Rate:$20.07 - $26.90Plug Power Inc. is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
