As Staff DevOps Database Engineer, you will be responsible for the DB management of highly available and resilient database infrastructure on one or more leading cloud platform, including AWS, Azure and GCP. You will have considerable experience in a Database DevOps and Cloud Infrastructure DB Engineering role, working on a regional scope, preferably within a fast-paced multinational organization. You will excel in AWS cloud-based deployment, support, and the management of multiple cloud-based database platforms. You will be able to provide SME knowledge and expertise in automation of administration, configuration, optimization, and monitoring of database servers at scale. Essentially, you will be able to work in a dynamic, collaborative regional team and will be comfortable liaising with internal and external stakeholders. Responsibilities will include: Being part of the team’s 24/7/365 global support of on-premises and cloud DB servers in a follow-the-sun model with the team being distributed throughout 3 regions. Monitor & measure the performance & availability of platform proactively, and implement automated corrective actions identified to improve performance & availability. Monitor & maintain the standard configuration of the DB platform at scale; provide corrections and rightsizing while informing the relevant parties. Conduct root cause analysis & implement and develop automated pro-active measures. Monitor effectiveness of implemented measures. Support multiple CI/CD database releases and deployments. Use and improve workflows and procedures to ensure consistency and auditability in a managed database infrastructure. Design, develop, implement and manage the database platform automation in Sprint cycles. Work within and enforce security and regulatory compliance procedures. Developing, managing and testing database backup and recovery plans. Perform database preventive maintenance and execute annual DR exercise. Document and communicate procedures, workflows, and standards effectively. Take ownership to drive initiatives and issues to conclusion. Preferred background, skills, and experience: Minimum 8 years of relevant experience; with 5+ years supporting at least 3 of these database platforms: MS SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Snowflake, SAP Hana, 5+ years of expertise with Windows and Linux server platforms, and 2+ years of experience with automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform in CI/CD methodology. Expertise in troubleshooting DB servers’ problems and performance. Knowledge of cloud database platforms, preferably AWS RDS/Aurora. Deep knowledge of SQL and its dialects. Demonstrated knowledge of scripting and programming languages such as Bash, PowerShell, and Python.
