We are seeking a Bioinformatics Engineer to join our multi-disciplinary team, which is tasked to maintain a world-class, fully automated instrument system for high precision proteomic analysis.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
Translate complex answers to biological questions into efficient and effective code, ensuring a seamless integration of computational solutions into biological research processes.
Collaborate closely with internal Research and Development (R&D) teams to discern their specific needs and adeptly design and implement data analysis pipelines that streamline and enhance their daily workflows.
Create clear and concise user guides for the algorithms and tools you develop, ensuring ease of adoption. Conduct targeted training sessions to empower team members with the specialized knowledge needed for proficient utilization.
Serve as a Benchling expert, leveraging your proficiency to harness the Benchling API for the creation of data analysis and automation algorithms. Contribute to optimizing data management and analysis capabilities through the utilization of Benchling's platform.
Innovate and construct algorithms tailored to internal process development needs, such as inventory management and Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) integration. Contribute to the advancement of internal operational efficiencies through the implementation of algorithmic solutions.
Actively contribute to the ongoing development and optimization of software tools and workflows, with a primary focus on enhancing efficiency in data analysis and visualization. Engage in continuous improvement efforts to refine and advance the capabilities of existing tools, ensuring they align with evolving project requirements.
Collaborate closely with fellow developers to enhance internal software development endeavors. Share insights, best practices, and innovative approaches to collectively elevate the quality and effectiveness of software solutions. Foster a collaborative environment that encourages knowledge exchange and mutual support within the development team.

Requirements:
PhD or MSc in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Molecular Biology, or a related field.
Significant experience in developing robust software and pipelines using Python. Familiarity with the R and Shiny is a plus.
Demonstrate proficiency in software engineering principles, encompassing version control systems such as Git and GitHub, debugging techniques, and comprehensive testing methodologies.
Exhibit demonstrated expertise in Linux, Linux shell, shell scripting and system administration.
Experience with modern build, deployment, and containerization environments, with a focus on technologies like Docker. Experience with Shinyproxy is a plus.
Prior experience with managing cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure and/or GCP).
Expertise in building web APIs and effectively interacting with them to facilitate seamless integration.
Experience with database management and executing advanced queries to extract meaningful insights.
Familiarity with electronic lab notebooks, especially platforms like Benchling, is a plus.
Nice to have prior experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) technologies, such as AWS CDK and/or Terraform.
Possess a good understanding of biological concepts, providing valuable context for projects in the life sciences. Wet lab experience is a plus.
Exhibit the ability to work independently and a strong inclination towards taking ownership of projects and tasks. Showcase excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills, ensuring clear and concise collaboration with team members and stakeholders.

The base salary range for this full-time position is $130,000 - $145,000 + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by work location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. The ranges displayed on each job posting reflect the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries but are subject to change if the leveling of the role is adjusted.
