The Co-op will be responsible for assisting the Fuel Cell System Controls Team in a wide variety of engineering initiatives and projects in support of the co-op’s academic studies. In this role, you will gain exposure to a fast-paced manufacturing and engineering environment which includes developing a detailed understanding of Plug Power’s products. The role will focus on the successful completion of technical projects, process improvement, documentation, and presentation of results at the end of the program.Project Summary Student to work within the Fuel Cell System Controls group to develop an “In-the-Loop” (MIL/SIL) simulation, integrating model-predictive system controls with a numerical plant model.Work with Plug Power engineers to develop plant model and model-predictive control software for Plug Power fuel cell productsIntegrate plant model and control software into an In-the-Loop simulation (MIL/SIL) using tools intended for that purposeVerify the In-the-Loop simulations basic functionality by collecting and processing dataCore Duties and ResponsibilitiesDevelop and maintain a detailed understanding of all Plug Power productsWork with senior level engineers and management to develop plant models and closed-loop control softwareAssist in developing engineering processes with guidance from senior level engineers and managementProgramming aptitude and ability to both use existing code and create new code in C/C++Modeling aptitude using GT-SUITE, Simulink, or other similar simulation programAbility to independently set up experiments and monitor progressUnderstand engineering concepts and how to appropriately apply them in day to day projectsAbility to critically analyze data in terms of system performance and reliabilityRepresent Plug Power in a professional manner at all times and in all interactionsPerform all other duties as assignedEducation and QualificationPursuing a Bachelor of Science or Master's degree in Computer Science, Controls Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related programPrior Internship or Co-op experience preferredMust have reliable transportation to the officeExcellent written and verbal communication skillsBackground/experience with C/C++, GT-SUITE, MATLAB/Simulink, or similarPossess solid hands-on approach to problem-solvingComputer and software systems skills as applicable to position including but not limited to: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and OutlookAbility to manage complex projects and multi-task effectivelyDemonstrated analytical abilities with strong attention to detailExcellent follow-through Must be driven and self-motivatedMust possess the highest ethical standards and a commitment to work qualityPay Rate:$20.07 - $26.90Plug Power, Inc. is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
