Summer InternshipStatus: Non-Exempt (hourly)Department: NextGen SolutionsPosition SummaryPlug Power Inc. is actively seeking a highly motivated Intern. The Intern will be responsible for assisting the NextGen Engineering Team in a wide variety of initiatives and projects in support of the department’s projects. In this role, you will gain exposure to a fast-paced engineering & prototyping environment which includes developing a detailed understanding of Plug Power’s next-generation products across diverse hydrogen fuel-cell applications. The role will focus on the successful completion of technical projects, process improvement, documentation, and presentation of results at the end of the program.Project Summary Assist engineering for one or more NextGen demonstrator platforms across diverse Fuel Cell applications – Power Gen, Mobility, Aerospace, Marine & more.Lead & assist design, analysis, prototype & testing of components & sub-systems across thermal, fluid dynamics, materials, mechanical strength & integration.Core Duties and ResponsibilitiesDevelop and maintain a detailed understanding of all Plug Power productsWork with senior level engineers and management to interpret and analyze dataAssist in developing engineering processes with guidance from senior level engineers and managementMechanical aptitude and ability to sufficiently make minor repairs as necessaryAbility to independently set up experiments and monitor progressUnderstand engineering concepts and how to appropriately apply them in day-to-day projectsAbility to critically analyze data in terms of system performance and reliabilityRepresent Plug Power in a professional manner at all times and in all interactions.Perform all other duties as assignedEducation and QualificationPursuing Bachelor of Science/Engineering or Master's degree in Mechanical streamPrior Internship or Co-op experience preferredMust have reliable transportation to the officeExcellent written and verbal communication skillsBackground/experience with any CAD design tool (Creo, SolidWorks, Catia, etc)Background/experience with statistical analysisBackground/experience with hands-on manufacturing, prototyping environmentBackground/experience with anyone programming or coding languagePossess solid hands-on approach to problem-solvingBasic computer and software systems skills as applicable to position including but not limited to: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and OutlookAbility to manage complex projects and multi-task effectivelyDemonstrated analytical abilities with strong attention to detailExcellent follow-through Must be driven and self-motivatedMust possess the highest ethical standards and a commitment to work qualityPay Rate:$20.07 - $26.90Plug Power Inc. is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
