Engineering Co-OpStatus: Non-Exempt (hourly)Department: Software EngineeringPosition SummaryPlug Power Inc. is actively seeking a highly motivated Engineering Co-op. The Co-op will be responsible for assisting the Software Engineering team in a wide variety of engineering initiatives and projects in support of the co-op’s academic studies. In this role, you will gain exposure to a fast-paced manufacturing and engineering environment which includes developing a detailed understanding of Plug Power’s products. The role will focus on the successful completion of technical projects, process improvement, documentation, and presentation of results at the end of the program.Project Summary Plug is seeking to develop an embedded SSH server for use with the TMS570LS1x series of safety microcontrollers (MCUs). Work on this project is intended to take place over the Spring and/or Summer semester(s) of 2024.Work will be implemented on the TMS570LS12HDK development kit. The SSH server will be transport layer independent. Potential physical layers include CAN, UART, and Ethernet. The desired skill sets for work on this project include: Basic understanding of SSH and network encryption methods. Basic understanding of embedded system development with C/C++ Core Duties and ResponsibilitiesParticipation in daily scrum activities with the Plug Software Engineering teamDesign, develop and implement embedded software solutions for fuel cell systemsDevelop and maintain a detailed understanding of all Plug Power productsAssist in developing engineering processes with guidance from senior level engineers and managementAbility to independently set up experiments and monitor progressUnderstand engineering concepts and how to appropriately apply them in day to day projectsAbility to critically analyze data in terms of system performance and reliabilityRepresent Plug Power in a professional manner at all times and in all interactionsPerform all other duties as assignedEducation and QualificationPursuing a Bachelor of Science or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related programPrior Internship or Co-op experience preferredMust have reliable transportation to the officeExcellent written and verbal communication skillsBackground/experience with statistical analysisPossess solid hands-on approach to problem-solvingComputer and software systems skills as applicable to position including but not limited to: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and OutlookAbility to manage complex projects and multi-task effectivelyDemonstrated analytical abilities with strong attention to detailExcellent follow-through Must be driven and self-motivatedMust possess the highest ethical standards and a commitment to work qualityPay Rate:$20.07 - $26.90Plug Power, Inc. is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
