Engineering Co-OpStatus: Non-Exempt (hourly)Department: Stack Engineering (389)Position SummaryPlug Power Inc. is actively seeking a highly motivated Engineering Co-op. The Co-op will be responsible for assisting the Stack Engineering design team in a wide variety of engineering initiatives and projects in support of the co-op’s academic studies. In this role, you will gain exposure to a fast-paced manufacturing and engineering environment which includes developing a detailed understanding of Plug Power’s fuel cell stack products with a focus on proving out stack assembly and component level changes. The role will focus on the successful completion of technical projects, process improvement, documentation, and presentation of results at the end of the program.Project Summary Use hands-on prototype build and test techniques to validate new stack technologies component level changes, and manufacturing improvementsCoordinate the required materials, equipment, personnel, and build documentation through the entire build and test processObtain and compile critical stack (and component level) build information to propose & implement improvements to both stack product designs along with associated build and test techniques This would be a role located in the Rochester, NY Gigafactory with the desired duration being January to August 2024Core Duties and ResponsibilitiesSupport prototype and production fuel cell stack builds with NPI, Production, Quality, and Process Manufacturing Engineering teamsEnsure proper documentation to capture stack related issues along with development and implementation of corrective actionsBrainstorm and down select future improvements to improve cycle time and quality of fuel cell stack builds. Work with senior level engineers and management to interpret and analyze dataAssist in developing engineering processes with guidance from senior level engineers and managementAbility to independently set up experiments and monitor progressUnderstand engineering concepts and how to appropriately apply them in day to day projectsAbility to critically analyze data in terms of system performance and reliabilityRepresent Plug Power in a professional manner at all times and in all interactionsPerform all other duties as assignedEducation and QualificationPursuing a Bachelor of Science or Master's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical or a related programPrior Internship or Co-op experience preferredMust have reliable transportation to the officeExcellent written and verbal communication skillsBackground/experience with statistical analysisPossess solid hands-on approach to problem-solvingComputer and software systems skills as applicable to position including but not limited to: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and OutlookExperience with product design including CAD 3D modeling and drawing creation are desirableExperience with 3D printing, tolerance analysis, and statistical methods are desirablePrior experience in a manufacturing environment is desirable Ability to manage complex projects and multi-task effectivelyDemonstrated analytical abilities with strong attention to detailExcellent follow-through Must be driven and self-motivatedMust possess the highest ethical standards and a commitment to work quality This would be a role located in the Rochester, NY Gigafactory with the desired duration being May to August 2024Pay Rate:$20.07 - $26.90Plug Power Inc. is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
