Manufacturing Quality Intern                                                               Department:  Process EngineeringPosition SummaryThe Quality Intern role is vital for maintaining and improving the high standard of quality targeted at Plug Power.  The position requires the ability to visually review and determine if parts are ok for usage based on documented visual criteria and understanding of the product.  The intern must physically collect data, manually enter data into Excel or other proprietary computer systems and be able to analyze the trends using basic analytical techniques.  Must be competent and comfortable with Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point.  Highly detail oriented.  Able to do repetitive tasks such as looking at parts to detect defects, scanning with a barcode reader, and manually entering data for prolonged periods of time.  Preferred understanding of quality metrics in manufacturing processes.  Must be able to follow procedures.  Effective communication skills are needed for this position.  Ability to point out opportunities for ongoing improvement is a plus.  Core Duties and ResponsibilitiesCollect daily quality data. (Manual data entry and barcode scanning are required).Enter data in Excel and keep the files clean and organized.Visually assess parts per the visual acceptance criteria.Follow the Change Management process to document acceptance of any deviations.Close communication with the Build team leads and manufacturing engineers.Learn and acquire a thorough understanding of the Build process.Be able to understand and report on the Top 3 daily quality issues.Help generate weekly quality dashboard reports.Follow instructions and create new instructions if needed.Understand and adhere to the Plug Power procedures.Contribute to team efforts.
