This is a full time, remote Summer Internship that can be based anywhere in the United States or Canada. Calix is looking for a Summer intern to join our IT Operations team. In this role, you will be part of a unique and award-winning internship program within the company. The program provides the opportunity to learn new skills through training and on the job learning.The Calix IT Operations Team is seeking a talented technical writer and trainer to join our team as a Summer Intern. You will need to have the ability to create clear, concise, and engaging documentation for our IT tools including tools within the Microsoft 365 Suite. You will work closely with the Service Desk and the internal IT team to understand their needs and translate technical information into user-friendly knowledge base articles and training presentations. By the end of the Summer Internship program, you will have at least one knowledge base article, one presentation, and a training session completed to add to your resume for experience. The specific topic is up to discussion and the team will provide guidance and coaching along the way.Responsibilities and Duties: Plan, research, write, edit, and maintain high-quality documentation for various audiences and platforms.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather feedback and ensure accuracy, consistency, and usability of documentation.Apply best practices and standards for technical writing, such as style guides, terminology, and templates.Use appropriate tools and technologies to produce and publish documentation in various formats.Manage your project and deliver documentation within deadlines and quality expectations.Ability to work independently in a remote environment and take on additional topics, if time allows.Qualifications: Working towards a Bachelor's degree in technical writing, communication, adult education, or a related field.Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.Strong proofreading skills.Strong technical aptitude is a plus combined with the ability to understand and explain complex concepts and processes.Proficient in using Microsoft Office.Proficiency or familiarity with Atlassian Confluence and Snagit a plus.Attention to detail, creativity, and problem-solving skills.Ability to provide 2 writing samples.Ability to work for the complete summer break (May - August or June - September).Preference will be given to applicants who are currently in their Junior or Senior year of college.Compensation will vary based on geographical location (see below) within the United States. Individual pay is determined by the candidate's location of residence and multiple factors, including job-related skills, experience, and education (i.e. year in school).There are different ranges applied to specific locations.
