This is a full time, remote Summer Internship that can be based anywhere in the United States or Canada. Calix is looking for a Summer intern to join our Information Security team. In this role, you will be part of a unique and award-winning internship program within the company. The program provides the opportunity to learn new skills through training and on the job learning. The Calix Information Security team is looking for a tech savvy student to work remotely and join us full-time in the Summer months. It is strongly suggested that you have a home work environment that enables you to concentrate and be productive. The duration of the program is expected to be 90 days.As an Information Security Intern at Calix, you will participate in meaningful assignments to help keep Calix secure. This position offers a unique opportunity to touch various infosec domains within a global team environment, engaging cross-functionally with Infrastructure, Networking, and Product teams. A successful candidate can expect to gain valuable mentorship and hands-on experience to cutting-edge information security practices and technologies in a supportive work environment.We are looking for a combination of the following in a successful candidate:A desire to stay current with the latest technologies, attacks, and hardening strategies.Passionate and motivated with high career aspirations.Detail oriented and able to notice things that others don’t.Take the initiative to build tools or resources that make everyone's lives easier.Showcase your passion for technology through personal projects (i.e., home/cloud labs, contributing to open-source projects, TryHackMe, etc.)Active in industry groups and/or conferences.Responsibilities and Duties: Participate in technical discussions and shadow incident response/threat hunts/security validation/other projects.Develop and enhance security automation including rapid incident response capabilities.Creating technical documentation, reports, and dashboards.Support SOC with research and optimization; Create and tune detection logic; Log ingestion gap analysis.Assist in identifying and remediating vulnerabilities within Calix systems.Qualifications: Student currently pursuing a degree in a technical computer field with at least two years completed.Demonstrate knowledge and application of modern information security principals.Strong interpersonal, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.Must be capable of assuming responsibility for assignments and time management.Ability to work for the complete summer break (May - August or June - September).You stand out if you have:Hands-on with Python and/or DevOps tools such as Ansible or similar; Linux sysadmin experience.Strong knowledge of Jira/Confluence.Experience creating and developing Logic App or Power Automate playbooks.Experience developing dashboards using PowerBI.Compensation will vary based on geographical location (see below) within the United States. Individual pay is determined by the candidate's location of residence and multiple factors, including job-related skills, experience, and education (i.e. year in school).There are different ranges applied to specific locations.
