(Plug) is actively seeking a highly motivated undergraduate or graduate student intern to work in our Government Affairs business unit. The intern will be responsible for assisting the business unit in a wide variety of initiatives and projects in support of unit goals. The incumbent in this role will gain exposure to a fast-paced, innovation oriented clean energy manufacturing and engineering environment which includes developing a foundational understanding of Plug Power’s products and technologies. The role will focus on the successful research, analysis, documentation, and communication of governmental policies and rules impacting the green hydrogen sector within the clean energy and advanced manufacturing industries.Project Summary The intern will primarily focus on three core project focus areas impacting the Government Affairs mission of promoting and advancing the strategic initiatives and goals of Plug through sound policy and strategic engagement while working with various internal business units.Research, analyze and document technical rules and policies associated with Department of Energy (DOE) and other federal and state agency programs and grants such as the Hydrogen Hubs, Hydrogen Shot and othersResearch, analyze and document community engagement and benefit planning policies associated with the same programs to enable clear articulation to stakeholder groups of the positive impacts of the advancement of green hydrogen and Plug specific technologies.Research, analyze and document financial and tax implications associated with the production tax credit (PTC), investment tax credit (ITC) and other incentive programs in relations to Plug’s projected revenue and growth goals Core Duties and ResponsibilitiesDevelop and maintain a detailed understanding of Plug Power products and technologies and their impact on clean energy goals nationally and globally.Work with senior level engineers and management to interpret and analyze data on how government programs and policies would positively or negatively impact overall operations and financial goals.Develop a strong understanding of large-scale federal government programs and initiatives such as the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law specific to the advancement of the clean energy economy and green hydrogen.Advise and communicate on a regular basis with other members of the government affairs and marketing and communication teams on outcomes from associated research and analysis.Develop briefings, communications, talking and key data points in relation to associated project research.Document meetings and discussions with external partner organizations that support community benefit and engagement planning and implementation.Represent Plug Power in a professional manner at all times and in all interactionsPerform all other duties as assignedEducation and QualificationsGraduate or undergraduate student in programs associated with public or environmental policy, economics, communications, business or other related fieldPrior Internship or Co-op experience preferredMust have reliable transportation to the officeExcellent written and verbal communication skillsBackground/experience with statistical analysisPossess solid hands-on approach to problem-solvingComputer and software systems skills as applicable to position including but not limited to: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and OutlookAbility to manage complex projects and multi-task effectivelyDemonstrated analytical abilities with strong attention to detailExcellent follow-through Must be driven and self-motivatedMust possess the highest ethical standards and a commitment to work qualityPay Rate:$20.07 - $26.90Plug Power Inc. is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
