Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. We are designing, manufacturing, and operating an all-electric aircraft that can carry four passengers for 100 miles at speeds of up to 150 mph while producing minimal noise.

What You’ll Do
Conduct mechanical testing in the Materials and Processes Engineering Lab
Execute ASTM tests on a variety of systems, including but not limited to: CFRP composites, adhesives (epoxy, acrylic, urethane), metals, & bonded joints
Materialography (via microscopy)
Weld inspection
Composite destructive evaluation
Specimen Fabrication
Machining
Surface preparation
Adhesive bonding
Composite wet lay up & vacuum bagging
Elevated temperature cure
Interpret and execute test plans, work instructions and data analysis
Build fabrication fixtures
Support installation and commissioning of new equipment
What You Need
Bachelor's degree in Materials Science or related Engineering degree
In lieu of an engineering degree, 8-10 years of experience in materials testing within an engineering or manufacturing industry
Hands-on experience with paste adhesive bonding
Hands-on experience with CFRP composite processing
Hands-on experience with mechanical testing load frames
Hands-on experience preparing samples for test
Experience with data acquisition and analysis
Problem-solving skills
Good communication skills and creating test reports
Bonus Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering
Experience with Google Workspace software package
Hands-on experience building fixtures and procuring parts
Hands-on experience with: Instron load frames, Struers materialography equipment, Keyence microscopes
Experience writing work instructions or laboratory procedures

We drive a pay-for-performance culture and reward performance that supports the Company’s business strategy. For this position we are targeting a base pay between $36.92 hourly - $46.15 hourly. Actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
