Through the lens of applied research and development, we navigate several disciplines to ask questions that the innovators of today will ask tomorrow.You will report to a Senior Manager of Research Science.We ask that you work in Research Technology Center based in San Francisco, CA.ResponsibilitiesDeveloping and Implementing Software Prototypes: Designing, developing, testing, and deploying software prototypes. This involves writing clean, efficient, and maintainable code in several programming languages like Python, C++Developing and Implementing Hardware Prototypes: Engage in the conceptualization, design, fabrication and prototyping of innovative mechatronic systems, integrating mechanical, electronic, and software components to create advanced technological solutionsPrototyping and Testing: Build and test integration of software and hardware prototypes. Conduct testing to evaluate the performance of these systemsSystem Integration and Optimization: Integrate multiple subsystems (sensors, actuators, controllers) into a cohesive functioning unit. Improve these systems for efficiency and performanceCollaboration and Teamwork: Collaborate with teams including research engineers, research scientists, software developers, and project managers to ensure project goals are met and systems are developed following the objectivesCustomer and Partner Engagement: Interact with customers, partners, and team members to define requirements, present solutions, and gather feedbackMinimum QualificationsEducation: Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics, Computer Science, Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degrees (master's or Ph.D.) in these areas are beneficial3-5 years working experience in Python and C++ software development, including system design, data structures & algorithms. Understanding of mechatronic software frameworks and software libraries is a plus3-5 years of Mechatronic hardware engineering skills. Comprehensive knowledge of hardware mechatronic systems, including experience in designing, fabricating, and integrating mechanical and electronic components. Hands-on knowledge of CAD/CAM, fabrication using machine shop tools, Raspberry Pi development is advantageousPossess prototyping and testing background. For U.S.-based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $107,100 and $184,800. Offers are based on the candidate’s experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range.
