What You’ll Do: Responsible for interfacing with the battery team to complete material selections, define and refine fabrication processes for composite parts and adhesive bonding and own the material and process specifications and interface with the suppliers. Conceive, plan and conduct exploratory development efforts and supportability programs for battery case materials and manufacturing Develop in-house research and test plans, conduct tests on candidate materials, process and equipment and generate detailed reports on results Lead material characterizations and support the development of assembly manufacturing processes Write specifications to cover battery  fabrication and assembly and interface with suppliers Material selections and specification writing for thermal management materials and dispensing Write specifications to cover motor part fabrication including specialty polymers Interface with both the battery and motors teams and their suppliers to optimize the material selections and define the materials with specifications What You Need: 10+ years of experience across a broad range of aerospace and/or automotive  adhesives and composite fabrication processes  Degree in Materials Engineering or equivalent, M.S. preferred Proven experience in material selection, material testing and qualification efforts, process specification reviews and build support Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including written technical reports and oral presentations to technical and managerial audiences Experience with cross-functional teams to develop, qualify and implement manufacturing process specification Bonus Qualifications: Familiarization with batteries for motors  Familiarization with FAA certification process for Part 23 aircraft Experience in lightweight design of specialty plastics in beneficial   Please note that this job description is intended to provide a general overview of the position and does not include an exhaustive list of responsibilities and qualifications At Archer we aim to attract, retain, and motivate talent that possess the skills and leadership necessary to grow our business. We drive a pay-for-performance culture and reward performance that supports the Company’s business strategy. For this position we are targeting a base pay between $122820 - $153,600. Actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
