Surrounded by extraordinary people, inspiring leaders, and world changing projects, you will do more and become more than you ever thought possible.Position SummaryWe are seeking a highly motivated, self-driven and energetic individual to join our Electrical Engineering team at our San Diego design facility.  You will become a member of Illumina’s award-winning team doing cutting-edge development of sequencing instruments – and enjoy a fast-paced dynamic environment and a culture of open communication and mutual respect!  The Electrical Engineering team defines, develops, and commercializes our designs for new, industry-leading sequencing instruments for life sciences and clinical markets.Responsibilities: Lead the design and development of mixed-signal circuitsCollaborate with cross-functional teams to define system requirements and specifications. Utilize expertise in both analog and digital domains to create innovative solutions. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to a team of engineers. Drive the adoption of best practices in ultra-low signal analog circuit design and ASIC development, ensuring adherence to industry standards. Stay abreast of emerging technologies and contribute to the continuous improvement of design methodologies. Leverage a strong background in ASIC design and implementation to integrate mixed-signal components seamlessly into the overall system. Manage relationships with ASIC design and fabrication suppliers, ensuring alignment with project goals and timelinesDevelop and implement test plans for mixed-signal circuits, ensuring functionality and performance meet specifications. Take ownership of project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation for mixed-signal design projects. Collaborate with project managers to ensure the successful execution of projects from concept to production. Work closely with cross-functional teams, including hardware, software, and systems engineers, to ensure seamless integration of mixed-signal components. Effectively communicate technical concepts and design decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.Requirements:15+ years of hands on experienceExtensive experience in mixed-signal circuit design, with a focus on ultra-low signal analog circuits. Solid background in mix signal ASIC design and implementationProven leadership experience in guiding engineering teams. Strong proficiency in simulation tools (ex Spice), and PCB design. Knowledge of industry standards and best practices in mixed-signal design, particularly in ultra-low signal applications. Preferred: Experience with Altium tools for schematic capture and layout. Familiarity with FPGA design, simulation and implementation. Knowledge of low-power design techniques. Strong programming skills (e.g., Python, C++) for automation and analysis. Education:BS/MS in Electrical Engineering or related field with 15+ years experience or PhD with 8+ industry experienceListed responsibilities are an essential, but not exhaustive list, of the usual duties associated with the position.  Changes to individual responsibilities may occur due to business needs.The estimated base salary range for the Principal Electrical Engineer role based in the United States of America is: $149,600 - $224,400. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
