We are looking for a Distinguished Engineer who is deeply technical, creative, and a hands-on authority to lead the next generation efforts in planning, prediction, and controls in Santa Clara, CA. The team consists of a group of applied researchers and machine learning engineers committed to building industry-grade deep learning to redefine autonomous vehicle (AV) planning and controls.As a member of our team you will develop key features for our autonomous driving platform. You will apply machine learning to a mix of prediction, planning, and control problems. You will create and lead innovative ML solutions for NVIDIA’s next-generation autonomous vehicles products. You should have strong research, SW development, communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills. Join us and help craft the future of self-driving vehicles.What you’ll be doing:Overseeing creative engineering-oriented research and advanced product development in the planning, prediction, and control space of our Autonomous Vehicles projects and team.Directing and coordinating activities necessary to complete major projects.Defining problems and delivering highly innovative solutions that lead to significant differentiation in the industry and may result in patents.Consulting with and collaborating with senior management and other teams within AV on advanced technical issues.Designing, running, and analyzing experiments and testing to evaluate the efficiency of our solutions on real-world data.Partnering with system software engineering specialists to ship industrial strength ML models.Communicating and collaborating with multi-functional teams.What we need to see:MS or PhD level education in Engineering or Computer Science with a focus on Deep Learning, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field, or equivalent experience.Demonstrates leadership through strategy.Proven experience (15+ years) applying machine learning to address real-world problems in AV, robotics, or similar industry.Deep understanding of deep neural network (DNN) training, inference and optimization in leading frameworks (Pytorch, Tensorflow, TensorRT, etc.).Proven experience crafting and building DNNs from scratch.Excellent written and verbal communication and collaboration skills.Strong Python programming, software design skills, software engineering in leading and developing for large and complex systems.Excellent understanding of the mathematical foundations of machine learning and deep learning.Ways to stand out from the crowd:Experience leading teams in applying deep learning, prediction and planning to create innovative and successful solutions for our autonomous vehicle products.Proven experience in reinforcement learning or optimal-control.GPGPU programming (CUDA) experience.Published work for international relevant conferences (CVPR, NeurIPS, ICRA, etc).PatentsAcademic and commercial groups around the world are powering a revolution in AI using deep learning techniques running on NVIDIA GPUs, enabling breakthroughs in problems from image classification to speech recognition to natural language processing and autonomous vehicles.
