This includes building short-term and long-term marketing strategies, messaging and plans with prioritized tactics to drive awareness and demand in Canada, as well as the planning and execution of marketing activities such as tradeshows, sponsorships and other customer-facing events. The person in this role will serve as a liaison between key internal stakeholders to articulate Canadian market needs and will work closely with the Canadian Commercial team, as well as global and US segment and program marketing and market development leads to deliver on a comprehensive strategy to market Illumina and its product portfolio in Canada.This position requires a deep understanding of the Canadian clinical genomics and genomic research markets and an ability to work both independently and collaboratively on problems of diverse scope to support the achievement of national sales objectives.Responsibilities: In collaboration with Canadian Commercial and Regional Marketing teams, develop and execute strategic marketing plans for Canada that deliver business results, that are in addition to Regional and Global marketing activities, including (but not limited to) the localization of content and targeted marketing campaigns. Identify, analyze and translate product, brand, customer, and relevant information to build effective marketing plans.Interact with key internal stakeholders and business units, including (but not limited to) Canadian Sales, Marketing, Product teams, and Communications colleagues to maximize knowledge and sales capabilities, increase brand awareness, bring key technical product knowledge to the field, represent Canadian market needs and enable strategic external engagements.Monitors and assesses market, product and funding trends, and communicates key findings.Facilitate development of business within Canada by translating market insights and knowledge into compelling positioning, marketing communications, and competitive selling strategies.Supports market research efforts and understands the national and regional business environment including familiarity with national clinical and research markets and payers/funders.Plans, manages and executes regional events in alignment with company strategic priorities, including tradeshows and Illumina-hosted events.Develop and promote social media content targeted at the Canadian market to drive brand awareness and to differentiate Illumina from its peers.Monitor social media and the broader digital landscape for key moments, new developments, competition and current trends, and identify opportunities for the Canadian Sales, Marketing, Social Media and Communications teams to leverage as part of content development for customer and/on campaign messaging.Collaborate with global and regional marketing teams to ensure alignment and streamlined customer communication plans.Ensures that regulatory and compliance guidelines are followed.Listed responsibilities are an essential, but not exhaustive list, of the usual duties associated with the position. Changes to individual responsibilities may occur due to business needs.Position Requirements: At least 5+ years of sales, marketing or other related experience in genomics, life sciences, pharma, medical device or related fields. Some experience in strategic marketing preferred.Bachelor’s degree in a life science discipline. MBA or other degree in business, marketing, or communications is highly desirable.Knowledge of genomics, next generation sequencing, bioinformatics and related applications and knowledge or related competitive/market landscapes in Canada.Highly self-motivated, adaptable, independent individual who is a quick learner and a critical and strategic thinker, with excellent project management skills, attention to detail and business intelligence.Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to work as a team player in a dynamic, fast-paced, matrixed environment.Great time management skills with a proven ability to manage many deliverables at once and to pivot direction as needed with minimal disruption.Strong analytical skills and ability to connect individual deliverables and analyses to larger strategy.Proven experience in a strategic role working collaboratively and independently to drive results.Event planning experience preferred, but not required.Ability to travel up to 20% of the time.Excellent written and oral communication skills.Fluent in English and French.At Illumina, we strive to foster a diverse and inclusive workplace by cultivating an environment in which everyone contributes to our mission.
