Surrounded by extraordinary people, inspiring leaders, and world-changing projects, you will do more and become more than you ever thought possible.Position SummaryThe Commercial Deal Specialist is responsible for developing quotations for the Sales and Service organization in accordance with standard policy and procedure, pricing, legal, financial and brand standards.The ideal candidate has a high attention to detail and is capable of prioritizing multiple requests while maintaining open lines of communication with the requestor and adhering to standard turnaround times. The individual should be able to interpret requests and determine appropriate quoting mechanism based on product line, deal terms and Illumina policy. If an issue were to arise, the candidate should be capable of taking appropriate action to escalate and obtain consensus from key stakeholders to identify the appropriate solution.The successful candidate should be excited to be working with colleagues across Asia-Pacific, Middle East and Africa and be capable of adjusting to differing cultural nuances and business conditions. This may extend to working and aligning with the global Illumina Commercial Operations teams to represent AMEA requirements and help drive to better global standards.The ideal candidate is perceptive and capable of identifying actions or processes that are against the best interests of the company and be capable of taking the appropriate action to escalate and correct the issue where appropriate. They must also be able to readily adapt to the changing needs of our customers and sales team and adjustments to our processes as required.Position ResponsibilitiesPrepare quotes for the sales team or field service (using Illumina’s CPQ system or pre-approved offline quote templates) based on product specifications, pricing and discount levels according to global and AMEA pricing strategy and discounting policiesReview final proposals to ensure deal is in accordance with all quotation and discounting policies and Illumina brand standards. Ensure that all offline approvals have been accurately captured and saved within the Salesforce.com opportunityEnsure all administrative tasks associated with deal or contract closing are carried out in collaboration with key stakeholdersIs proficient in the quote process and lifecycle and is able to advise the Sales and Service team on appropriate deal structure, output layout, next steps and approval statusReview deal terms and conditions for adherence to internal policies and escalate deviations to appropriate stakeholders and seek approvals for non-standard business casesSupport Sales team and Strategic Commercial Deal Analyst in the quote generation in response to tenders, RFQs and other financing programsCoordinate with the Strategic Commercial Deal Analyst to identify non-standard deals and partner to document actions taken to finalize proposalCoordinate with Sales team to execute on all critical tasks associated with the yearly pricing agreement renewal processParticipate in regular user acceptance testing in Salesforce.com and other systems as required, and provide feedback on improvementsBe aware of Illumina Pricing and related policies and be able to advise others on key aspects of these policiesConduct quote-related trainings to Sales team members and Illumina sales channel partners (distributors)Create and publish any non-standard work instructions relating to a specific region or customerAll listed requirements are deemed as essential functions to this position; however, business conditions may require reasonable accommodations for additional task and responsibilities.​Preferred Education BackgroundBachelor’s degree or equivalent required. Business or Technical field preferred. Life Sciences degree a plusPreferred Experience & Skills3+ years of direct work experience. Successful track record in sales, sales operations, customer service or a related commercial support role preferred.Strong written and verbal communication skills in English. Knowledge of another Asian language is useful (Japanese or Korean being most in demand)Strong attention to detail and commitment to deliver quality work in a timely mannerDemonstrated ability to multi-task, work in team settings, and work independently when requiredProven analytical, organizational, problem solving and project management skillsPossess an open, flexible and positive can-do attitude with good communication, interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with multiple departments to execute mutually beneficial solutions. Experience dealing with difficult internal and external situationsThorough knowledge of Microsoft Office and possess an innate ability to navigate through new software applications.
