Our industry-leading, trendsetting, edge-to-core solutions provide the foundation for many of the world’s largest and most demanding networks, generating billions in service revenue for our customers.DescriptionRole Responsibility Summary:This position will lead a multi-site system hardware optical engineering team to develop the industry-leading edge coherent optical transponders/muxponders.The manager will continuously grow our competence in optical design and validation, developing infrastructure such as new test capabilities and test stations for design and production. Optical design responsibilities include the specification of key components from internal and external suppliers, component integration and calibration, performance optimization, and quality assurance. Test responsibilities include automated tests, data acquisition and analyses, module calibration, and FW control expertise. Validation plans ensuring product quality and TL + ISO 9000 compliance will be developed and executed: methods, intelligent sample sizes, test coverage, and P/F criteria. Engineering for production testing, such as the development of bring-up, calibration and test algorithms, equipment selection, coverage, sampling frequency, and P/F criteria, will also be provided by this group. The hired individual must be a manager, coach and leader for engineers within his/her department -- effective in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, setting and meeting scheduled commitments. This person will own the master development schedule and frequently communicate with our global sites.Job Requirements The successful candidate must have strong skills and knowledge in design, testing, and products for coherent optical transport. S/he must also be an experienced and effective manager. The following requirements are expected for applicable candidates.- MS or PhD degree in Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, or related majors- 10+ years of optical engineering development experience required. At least five years in the area of coherent optical communication. At least five years in the managerial position.- Technical expertise in coherent optical communication technology, digital signal processing, and high-speed optical signal generation and detection.- Familiar with industry design validation process and product life cycle- Good communication and people skills #LI-SR2Infinera is an equal opportunity employer.
