And it means we prioritize a diverse F5 community where each individual can thrive.Position SummaryThe Principal Global Homologation and Regulatory Compliance Engineer is responsible for working with international government agencies to ensure that new, modified or existing F5 products conform to safety and security requirements and have cleared all legally required approvals for sale in different international markets. Responsibilities include collecting information, coordinating regulatory requirements implementation, and obtaining mandatory global homologation certifications. The candidate must be proficient with different safety and security certification standards, such as CSA, NEBS, and UL in North America as well as BIS, CB, CE, CCC, TEC, and other international standards. The candidate should also be familiar with the certification processes and requirements for products imported, sold or used in international markets. Secondary responsibilities include the planning, coordination, and testing of F5 products for safety, EMI/EMC, and NEBS.Primary Responsibilities Manage global homologation and regulatory compliance spend including procuring quotes, purchase orders, approving invoices, and working with AP and vendors to close out any existing purchase orders.On a quarterly basis, provide a state of global homologation and regulatory compliance activities to the executive staff of Sales, Engineering Services, Manufacturing, Export Compliance, and Product Management outlining country certifications by product for the previous quarter, the budgetary spend that was completed for the previous quarter, certifications and budgetary spend that are currently open, projected projects with budgetary spend estimates for upcoming quarters, and prioritization of each project.Establish relationships with agencies for product safety testing and certification, vendors and or suppliers.Lead, coordinate and perform all activities relating to agency approvals and or compliance. This includes requesting quotations and purchase requests as well as preparation of schedules, reports, test procedures and test plans.Stay abreast of the latest standards, domestic and international, and inform management regarding the impact and action needed for product compliance.Create and maintain product regulatory labels for each product by manufacturing location.Create and maintain a document repository that can be used by F5 employees to obtain product certifications for currently shipping products.Create and maintain the Critical Component lists in the Agile PLM tool to improve visibility of part changes that would impact regulatory compliance.Create and maintain the power cord matrixes necessary for worldwide product shipments.As a member of the product development team, review new designs up-front to ensure all requirements for the appropriate agency compliance and considerations are met.Manage inventory required for international certifications including the planning and purchasing of production hardware, configuration and preparation needed for each specific certification, the current location of the purchased hardware, and the retirement of the hardware to the services group when the hardware is no longer needed or too old to support the certification process.Participate in in-house or outside testing for agency compliance of F5 product(s) for safety, EMI/EMC, NEBS, and other regulatory standards.Participate in the creation, development and maintenance of in-house test procedures, test plans and guidelines for product compliance in reference to the various and latest regulatory standards.Initiate and/or coordinate root cause analysis on non-compliance relating to regulatory issues.Work with Engineering on alternate part source evaluations. Responsible for upholding F5’s Business Code of Ethics and for promptly reporting violations of the Code or other company policies.Performs other related duties as assigned.The Job Description is intended to be a general representation of the responsibilities and requirements of the job.  However, the description may not be all-inclusive, and responsibilities and requirements are subject to change.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Working knowledge of the agency standard requirements for IT and Telecom equipment.General knowledge of analog and power electronics theory and practical designs.Ability to read schematics.Ability to pull BOMs from the Agile PLM system and maintain the critical component list for each product.Ability to create and maintain regulatory labels using CorelDraw or equivalent.Ability to read and translate regulatory legislation as it pertains to F5 productsAbility to work cross-funcationally with different teams and interface easily with other engineering disciplines.Ability to work under pressure and multi-task effectively.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.Team player, good interpersonal skills.Self starter, pro-active.Duties are performed in a normal office environment while sitting at a desk or computer table. Duties require the ability to utilize a computer, communicate over the telephone, and read printed material.Job may be performed on-site at a customer facility or data center, or in an office environment sitting at a desk or computer table.Available for business travel, including offsite product testing.QualificationsMinimum Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering or 12 years progressive experience*, orMinimum Master’s degree or 8 years of progressive experience*, orMinimum PhD with 5 years of progressive experience*,Must be proficient with different safety and security certification standards, such as CSA, NEBS, and UL in North America as well as BIS, CB, CE, CCC, TEC, and other international standards.Experience in working with international government agencies to ensure that products conform to safety and security requirements and have cleared all legally required approvals for sale in different international markets.Experience in the electronics manufacturing or design and development engineering in the areas of product reliability testing, prediction and assessments, product safety and EMI/EMC testing and verification within an ISO environment.Must be proficient with local electrical codes.Should be familiar with reliability test plans and assessments as well as environmental testing.Hands-on experience in using DMM, AC source, power meter, soldering iron, oscilloscope as well as understanding electrical wiring diagram and or simple circuits. F5, Inc. is an equal opportunity employer and strongly supports diversity in the workplace.The Job Description is intended to be a general representation of the responsibilities and requirements of the job.
