Leads projects and interacts with other internal and external teams, including the design engineering, site engineering, regional operations teams, onsite support vendors and consultants on projects, policies and procedures within a diverse scope. Mentors junior engineers. On call on a rotating basis.ResponsibilitiesSystem Operation and Work PracticesOperating knowledge of control systems to include advanced diagnostics and repairsAbility to apply knowledge of Equinix process and procedure and industry standards to resolve diverse issuesUses safe working practices at an expert level (e.g. can apply procedure for lockout/tag out, can explain MSDS, etc.Problem SolvingConsistently solves diverse, cross-functional issues requiring action and a high degree of initiative to resolveImplements and makes recommendations for system level improvements to eliminate potential problemsTests suitability of components for deploymentsInternal/External ContactSupports in mentoring junior team membersSupports in advising project team members, both internally and externallyAssists in leading teams per project or initiatives such General Contractors, design teams, commissioning agents, equipment suppliers, etc.Multi-functional SOP development and relevant technical writingInteractions are primarily to exchange information between departments within the organizationMay include executive level communications in standardized templatesTechnical ExpertiseHas a full detailed understanding of typical electrical, fire protection, and HVAC system operation including typical optimization strategies and typical deficiencies.Has authoritative controls system knowledge, typically confined to a few brands of system.Is a domain expert to others in the groupParticipates by presenting at internal and/or external engineering seminars/conferencesDevelop Policy/MethodsParticipates in review of policy and procedure documentsAssess Adherence to PolicyAssures consistency to developed standards and policy through review of documentation, participation in data center commissioning activitiesQualifications5+ years professional controls engineering diagnostic, repair and design experiencePreference for environmental/HVAC systems experiencePreference for critical facilities, especially data center, experiencePreference for BSEE degreeEquinix is an Equal Employment Opportunity and, in the U.S., an Affirmative Action employer.
