We are proud that our collective effort has led to Equinix One Legal being named as one of the Top Innovative Law Departments in North America by the Financial Times.This open role of Director, Strategic Accounts Customer Lead will be responsible for dedicated facets of the team’s contracting support for Platform Alliance accounts and xScale accounts (accounting for approximately a quarter of the Company’s revenue) which are allocated for global support. This role is instrumental in leading and closing complex, strategic deals and managing the highest profile customer accounts as well as the legal professionals who provide advice and handle deals for these accounts. This role advises the business in alignment with corporate goals and objectives and risk thresholds in a manner that supports the objectives for the global business. Adept at using and leveraging technology to better scale the organization, this role oversees deals which have significant impact to the business.ResponsibilitiesLeadership (and people management) for deals, accounts and of a part of the team and responsibility for the scalable growth and operational management of Strategic Accounts support (including xScale deals) and negotiations and liaising with colleagues globally, recognizing that negotiators are spread throughout various locationsEnd-to-end service delivery related to drafting, reviewing, and negotiating customer contracts (and where relevant working with the Supplier Contracts legal team) for dedicated Strategic Accounts and ensuring that any conflicts are balanced and resolvedEntire deal cycle, including reporting status of contracts, development of and approvals for customer deals, and coordinating activities between global team members and various departments and stakeholders; accountable for global alignment and championing understanding of key legal issuesTogether with the Sr. Director, Strategic Accounts Global Lead, set strategy for Strategic Accounts support and drive consistent processes, governance, policies and actions by the team. Develop strategic goals and methods for innovation and creativity in closing deals and fast-tracking approvals to achieve revenue/deal closure, reducing cycle time, and promoting close cross functional working relationships and providing data and feedback to cross functional teams to increase efficiencies overall. This would include where required presenting to stakeholders, recommending positions and solutions and handling escalations with Senior Executives, MDs and senior leadershipHighly visible partner to the business, ensuring the legal team is at the forefront of strategic initiatives and large commercial transactions. Engage regularly with key business leaders to ensure that the needs of dedicated Strategic Accounts customers are met and while safeguarding the Company’s interest. Working with stakeholders to increase the overall efficiency of the process and deal closureManage the customer contracting legal aspects of integrating Strategic Accounts for acquired businesses into the CompanyBalance risks, exercise judgment and take decisive action to execute on complex and high impact customer dealsDevelop in-depth knowledge and understanding across all business lines, markets, products, customers, competitors and the regulatory environment, in order to identify trends, stay abreast of material developments and provide high level legal/commercial advice to the Business on emerging opportunities and risks from a commercial perspectiveTogether with the Sr. Director, Strategic Accounts Global Lead, develop actionable risk assessments and policies to balance customer and Equinix needs. Partner cross-functionally to solve business challenges related to strategic accounts contractingWork with the members of the Global Contracts team including supplier and the wider global Legal team such as products Legal team and others on process and contracting improvements to help create greater consistencyIdentify and resolve potential risks to the Company, provide guidance and work closely with stakeholdersProblem solving, driving for internal support in order to close dealsChampion transformational projects to drive scale and effectivenessReporting out to Sr. Director, Strategic Accounts Global Lead and proposing solutions which increase effectiveness and impact for the Global Contracts Strategic Accounts teamEnsure effective partnership with and use of GLOSSOversee a dedicated team of professionals and cross functional alignment on specific issues including KPI and SLA strategy: defining capabilities, monitoring progress and driving improvementsWorking as part of the Global Contracts Strategic Accounts senior leadership, to set strategy, unite the team, influence and model the culture and as an example for excellence.
