Come make an impact!The MLDE Team is responsible for getting, managing, and making useful the data that Machine Learning Engineers need in order to develop machine learning models and data-backed products. The team’s core competencies span large areas of software and data engineering and include data pipeline and data lifecycle engineering, governance, cost and process optimization, and developer productivity tools and services.About the RoleAbout the Role:As a Software Engineer on the MLDE Team, you will have the opportunity to help build a data platform to serve Workday's Machine Learning Engineers. You will demonstrate your existing experience and continue to grow and make an impact in the following areas:Design, develop, and deliver software that moves the business forwardWork with a dedicated team to uncover areas of novel improvement and unique opportunities within Workday's specific needsWork with and learn from Workday's engineering staff and processesContinue to operate MLDE's services with a high quality of serviceFind and execute on opportunities for improvement and future work to grow the Data Engineering and Machine Learning areasOnboarding — we expect that within 30, 60, and 90 you will be focusing on the following:30 days:Company familiarization with values, processes, productsGain access to all systems that you will needUnderstand the roadmap and processesStart committing production code, with help, to a key service60 days:Gain an understanding of the team’s services and roadmapProvide feedback across the teamParticipate in prioritization of new issuesComfortable with development in some team servicesBegin shadowing support incidents and requests90 days:Begin to offer suggestions to create and improve new featuresFeel like a subject-matter-expert for one or more servicesHandle common support requestsParticipate in team’s on-call rotationAbout YouYou're an engineer who is excited to make an impact, has some production experience in software engineering, and some exposure to and interest in data engineering and machine learning.Basic Qualifications3 or more years' experience using Java, Python, or Go3 or more years of proven experience with AWS/GCP/AzureProven experience working with production systemsOther QualificationsExcellent communication skills (we are "doc-focused")Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and related deployment toolingExperience with SaaS ML Tooling offerings such as Databricks or SagemakerExperience with API documentation tools (e.g. Swagger) Workday Pay Transparency StatementThe annualized base salary ranges for the primary location and any additional locations are listed below.  Workday pay ranges vary based on work location. As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus, as well as annual refresh stock grants.
