Surrounded by extraordinary people, inspiring leaders, and world changing projects, you will do more and become more than you ever thought possible.Position Summary:We are looking for a Senior Staff Employee Relations Lead as a subject matter expert within our People Relations function.Our HR team is highly collaborative, creative, and passionate about the work we do to further our mission through our people practices. You will partner across the organization with a focus on employees, cases, and coaching within the U.S.Further, through the use of data analysis and collaboration with HR partners and company management, this role will create proactive strategies to mitigate common employee relations concerns, promoting a positive work environment. The role can support a hybrid work arrangement including frequently working onsite at Illumina’s San Diego campus. This position reports to the Senior Director of People Relations within the Human Resources function.Tasks and Responsibilities:Serves as a point of contact for management and employees on employee relations issues, providing advice, advocacy, support, and resolution.Manages risk and collaborates with internal legal counsel as needed to ensure investigations are comprehensive and compliant with relevant laws, regulations and company policies and procedures.Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from employee disputes.Ensures a fair and consistent approach to the organization’s policies and procedures, thus promoting a positive work environment consistent with company culture.Leads effective, thorough, and objective investigations and provides recommendations for action.Provides guidance and support to managers in handling performance-related issues, including performance improvement plans and disciplinary actions.Provide expert coaching to managers and employees on employee relations matters, conflict resolutions, and performance management.Engages with external updates and related professional organizations to stay up-to-date on employment laws and regulations to ensure company policies and practices remain compliant.Partner with leadership to reinforce a culture of care, respect, inclusion, and accountability in all employee interactions.Analyzes employee relations trends and metrics to assist in the develop solutions, programs, and policies.Shares knowledge and expertise through mentoring of others.Assists with internal and external audits pertaining to employment practices.Assists with projects by creating and executing project work plans, identifying resources needed and completing assigned responsibilities.Preferred Experiential Background:12+ years HR Business Partner or Employee Relations experience.Demonstrated ability to work independently and with a team in a dynamic environment, with the ability to influence all levels of management.Requires comprehensive knowledge and experience across various HR disciplines including employee relations, performance management, and talent management.Must have a strong knowledge of HR principles and procedures along with federal and state laws and regulations.Demonstrated knowledge of HRIS systems, including experience with Workday and case management systems.Demonstrated analytical skills and an understanding of data requirements, relationships, structure, and relational processing of various types of data to identify action items and drive decision-making.Project management experience required, including leading internal project teams, with prior experience managing and executing continuous improvement projects.Candidate must possess excellent verbal/written communication skills, as well as computer literacy in MS Outlook, Word and Excel.Preferred Educational Background:Requires Bachelor's degree or equivalentPHR or SPHR designation preferred#LI-HYBRIDThe estimated base salary range for the Employee Relations Lead (Hybrid) role based in the United States of America is: $124,300 - $186,500. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
