Key Qualifications Key Qualifications Strong understanding of the physics behind material and device properties Knowledge and experiences in physical failure analysis Experience with Failure Mode Effects Analysis and reliability prediction modeling Knowledge in materials characterization and techniques Proficiency in statistical data analysis and the ability to communicate results both written and verbally clearly to others Ability to identify root cause and recommended corrective action based on results from multiple data sources Ability to balance multiple projects at once Flexibility and adaptability to approach new tasks Description Description In this role you will:
- Identify high-risk failure modes at the material level, especially early in the design cycle
- Develop new stress conditions based on material physics and any novel user behaviors the new material may enable
- Identify and implement the necessary equipment and test specifications critical for validating material performance
- Assess product-facing reliability through stress test data and material understanding
- Identify failures from experimental testing to investigate root cause through failure analysis
- Support vendor testing by traveling and collaborating with global teams to implement novel solutions Education & Experience Education & Experience M.S. with 2+ years of industry experience, or Ph.D. degree in Materials Science & Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or an equivalent field desired. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $138,900 and $256,500, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
