JOB SUMMARY:
Aid in the creation of highly cosmetic and functional surface finishes by serving as a technical contributor to define surface chemistry and process requirements needed to deliver best-in-class surface finishes. Key Qualifications Key Qualifications Prefer 5+ years of experience in development of cleaning processes and corrosion prevention for brittles (glass, Sapphire, Ceramic) and all coated materials on brittles substrate, preferably in a hands-on role developing and specifying the process and equipment Experience in developing cleaning process for post CNC machining, lapping and buffing processes. Pretreatment experience for electroplated, PVD and inks and coatings History of successfully implementing automated cleaning processes in a mass production environment Expertise in cleaning equipment design, vertical ultrasonic batch line, and conveyor type preclean line is a plus Expertise in detergent development, downselection and know-how of how it works Ability to plan, implement, and present results from investigations using statistical analysis and clearly communicated results and recommendations Drive root cause and corrective action investigations on surface contamination related failures Experience applying advanced analytical techniques (such as XRF, SEM, EDS, FTIR, TEM, ICP, GCMS & XPS) to characterize surfaces, coatings or troubleshoot failure modes Self-motivated with a commitment to delivering high quality results in a fast paced environment Description Description - Process and Equipment owner for dry and wet cleaning processes. Responsible for implementation of cleaning processes, chemistries, and equipment at supplier locations
- Deliver methods to suppliers and validate manufacturing processes to meet products requirements
- Establish cleaning process metrics, process control plan, design and define cleaning line related facility requirements and procedures, design or provide design suggestions for cleaning equipment, define or provide guidance of cleaning consumables (detergent, fixtures, brush, rollers, filters etc…)
- Work with contract manufacturers to qualify process and insure they are followed through prototype, ramp and mass production stages
- Continues drive process capability improvement to achieve high yield and reliability
- Drive extensive failure analysis and surface characterization, dig out root cause for all cleaning associated top cosmetic and functional defects
- Collaborate with upstream/downstream process key stakeholders, in order to drive process improvement as a team
- Work directly with manufacturers implementing solutions meeting dynamic commercial goals
- High travel rate expected Education & Experience Education & Experience BS in Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent; MS or above preferred Additional Requirements Additional Requirements - Experience in semiconductor industry with focus on surface treatment, coating, PVD and CVD coatings - Develop methodology to quantify cleanliness requirements for “how clean is clean”. - Advanced materials/process development experience - Surface characterization skills
