AT&T first opened the Breinigsville facility in the late 1980s and this facility served as Bell Labs’ world headquarters for optoelectronics.  Through a series of acquisitions, the Breinigsville facility is now an integral part of Broadcom’s Optical Systems Division, manufacturing InP lasers and detectors that support telecommunications customers throughout the world. Position Summary:This process technician position involves applying acquired technical procedures to support semiconductor manufacturing in either the metals, dielectrics, photolithography, etching or epitaxial growth areas in a cleanroom environment.  The technician is routine production manufacturing, operation of equipment and ownership of advanced processes.  Key Duties and Responsibilities:Using limited to intermediate technical experience to perform production and R&D runsPerform specialized, advanced tasks under engineering supervision for new product introduction and process troubleshootingCommunicate with engineering and vendors to learn additional process and equipment knowledgeContinues to develop more advanced technical understanding of various job functions in areaAbility to perform light lifting and carrying duties, and to sit and/or stand for an extended period of time (3-5 hrs.)Good verbal and written communication skillsMaintain a clean and safe work environmentThe Ideal Candidate:Enjoys working hard in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and is detail-oriented.Exhibits strong problem-solving skills as related to equipment and manufacturing issues.Self-directed and able to work with limited supervision. Qualification and Experience:0-1 years of experience with semiconductor manufacturing experience in a cleanroom environmentMinimum AAS in Electronics, Electro-Mechanical, Electrical Technology, or equivalent formal military training.Proficiency in Microsoft, Oracle, and Google-based computer applications.Working Conditions:Duties are performed in a cleanroom environment which requires personnel to wear special garments.Cleanroom suits, hoods, shoe covers and gloves are used to maintain the cleanliness of the workspaceLocation:The Broadcom – Breinigsville, PA site is located in the Lehigh Valley near the cities of Allentown, Bethlehem and ReadingAdditional Job Description:Compensation and BenefitsThe salary range for this position is $21.50 - $26.00 per hour. This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in accordance with relevant plan documents. Broadcom offers a competitive and comprehensive benefits package: Medical, dental and vision plans, 401(K) participation including company matching, Employee Stock Purchase Program (ESPP), Employee Assistance Program (EAP), company paid holidays, paid sick leave and vacation time.
