We are seeking a dedicated, dynamic and experienced teammate who lives and breathes African artists, genres and music to join our Apple Music Africa team based in Cape Town, South Africa. Key Qualifications Key Qualifications Experience in a music subscription service (DSP), music industry (label, publisher, manager, live), Radio, TV, media/marketing agency or commercial digital music/media platform, with an emphasis on content management systems. You are deep in music culture with a passion for discovering new African artists and music across all genres. A deep understanding of music editorial and how to consistently engage Apple Music’s subscribers on the continent by being culturally relevant every day. Outstanding understanding of the African music industry dynamics, including independent and major labels on the continent as well as competitor digital music services. Strategic understanding of key trends impacting the music industry on the African continent, plus an understanding of an artist’s different stages of development. Uncompromising ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Strong analytical skills and comfort with data reporting platforms. Collaborative partner; ability to work cross-functionally in a team environment. Additional African language skills are a plus. Description Description As a member of the Apple Music Africa Editorial team, you will be responsible for programming our Apple Music service, curating our African playlist ecosystem and conceptualising compelling editorial campaigns. We are looking for someone who lives and breathes music and knows the (A)frobeats to (Z)ouglou of African Music. We’re looking for someone who is knowledgeable and passionate about artists and music from across the African continent with a solid understanding of what is happening across the continent from Lagos and Accra to Nairobi and Johannesburg. This is a very exciting position in the fastest growing region in the world. You’re a strong collaborator and advocate for all Apple Music teams across the vast Apple eco-system, with a major emphasis on delivering on editorial and business priorities. You’ll work closely with Editorial, Artist Relations, Apple Music Radio, PR, Design, International and more to deliver optimised plans on priority projects. This role works cross-functionally to facilitate partner, business and operational needs with the goal of identifying and inherently driving engagement and growth opportunity, while positioning Apple Music as the best-in-class strategic partner and service. Our team is always-on, working to deliver unique content & authentic editorial campaigns to our subscribers on the continent. Curate and programme our service to ensure that we present music to our subscribers that is fresh, impactful, meaningful, culturally relevant, highly compelling and engaging. Ensuring that Apple Music has the best possible African Music offering that will appeal to our existing and new subscribers. Delivering a pixel perfect editorial experience daily and enabling the discovery of African music by creating compelling and culturally relevantly playlists, collections and editorial campaigns. Identifying the next generation of African superstars ahead of the curve & competitors. Working on our data reporting platforms to identify trends and breaking artists & tracks. Identify, understand and communicate the African music market trends, music industry developments, needs and opportunities for Apple Music to our regional and international teams. Work closely with a team of expert local and international Music Editors on getting African artists music out to our global subscriber base. Liaising with all elements of Apple Music to identify, develop and complete key editorial and content opportunities. Developing a strategic approach to key artist release plans, working with the Music Business Partnerships team, incorporating all elements of the Apple Music platform and Apple eco-system. Identifying long-term artist priorities in parallel with Apple Music Business Partnerships team, creating unique moments and plans for these artists on an ongoing basis. Devising and creating editorial plans to drive & increase engagement with our subscribers.
