And it means we prioritize a diverse F5 community where each individual can thrive.The NGINX Business Unit at F5 is searching for an exceptional and experienced manager to lead a group of our SREs (Site Reliability Engineers). On our team, you will be directly responsible for the reliability of the NGINX SaaS systems through observability, alerting and incident management, emphasizing collaboration between development and operations teams. As these systems are currently in the growth stage, we anticipate that this role will provide strategic guidance for the incorporation of observability into system and software design, as well as the standardization of site reliability best practices across NGINX SaaS products.Responsibilities:Lead and expand our SRE team into a “Follow the Sun model” while maintaining our culture of trust, collaboration, and ownership.Provide mentorship and expertise for system reliability, security and setting site reliability standards.Build automation to prevent problem recurrence.Develop capacity for analysis, testing and measurement.Produce effective risk-based failure mitigation plans.Take ownership of live customer issues with timely fixes and provide proper RCA (Root Cause Analysis) to the wider group.Collaborate with leaders in engineering and product management on the roadmap, strategy, coordinating dependencies, and establishing clear requirements to effectively meet delivery and quality commitments.Support, mentor, and coach as well as provide professional development for your team. Collaborate across teams and deliver high-quality software to meet customer needs.Perform continuous team member evaluations to enable frequent feedback.Identify hiring needs and be the hiring manager for recruiting engineers.Inspire and engage with your team while also interacting and collaborating with senior management and executives. View management as supporting and empowering your teams along with encouraging a great team culture.Skills and Experience:Experience building and leading geographically distributed teamsStrong background in software reliability engineering and maintaining live deployments in multi-cloud environments.Experience with sustaining established products.Strong background with secure deployments.Expertise in clouds, containers, and Kubernetes would also involve real (hands-on) experience with in-depth physical and virtual appliance configurationPractical knowledge of large-scale distributed systems deploymentsExperience developing software using continuous integration and delivery techniquesStrong experience with load balancing and reverse proxy technology and concepts.Qualifications:3+ years of leading the SRE team10+ years in technology overallBachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or equivalent experience#LI-EM1The Job Description is intended to be a general representation of the responsibilities and requirements of the job.
