Our PD team is responsible for conceiving, designing, testing, troubleshooting, and bringing into production new products that define home and music experiences. Key Qualifications Key Qualifications Strong engineering fundamentals and high personal motivation Design intelligence: accurate mechanical intuition, creative problem solving, inquisitive nature, attention to detail Strong communication skills: written, visual, and verbal. Ability to clearly convey design ideas and contribute to brainstorms Experience developing parts and assemblies in 3-D CAD Experience in Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), statistical tolerance analysis techniques, functional dimensioning, and geometric tolerancing. Working knowledge of finite element analysis theory and modeling. Flexibility and comfort working in a quickly changing environment. Ability to travel internationally (up to 20%). Description Description We are looking for a highly motivated product design engineer. As a member of our team you would be expected to: - Work collaboratively with various disciplines including Industrial Design, operations, and cross-functional engineering teams - Brainstorm concepts and solutions to a wide variety of complex engineering problems - Develop, prototype, evaluate, and troubleshoot new designs - Lead design reviews and contribute to peer design reviews - Present your work to cross-functional teams and executives - Generate detailed specifications and drawings - Communicate with internal manufacturing teams and external vendors to optimize designs for function, cosmetics, and manufacturability - Conduct failure analysis and design of experiments (DOEs) to determine root cause and implement corrective actions - Validate and characterize designs through multiple iterations - Develop deep technical knowledge by taking design from concept to production - Ensure that designs meet cosmetic and functional requirements to provide best in class hardware for our customers Education & Experience Education & Experience BS in Mechanical Engineering Additional Requirements Additional Requirements Pay & Benefits Pay & Benefits At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $138,900 and $256,500, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
