Mechanical Engineer (Metal Commodity)Description -This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of HP’s Procurement team that develops and manages a world class supply chain in support of award winning products in the area of Printing Solutions for large format and 3D printing businesses. As a successful candidate you will collaborate with Design Centers, Component Suppliers and Manufacturing Partners across multiple organizations to innovate and deliver solutions to meet cost competitiveness, quality, assurance of supply and environmental sustainability.What a Mechanical Engineer (Metal Commodity) does at HP:Lead in investigation with Design Centers to provide design for manufacturing (DFM) in developing and industrializing metal parts & modules to be integrated in printer products.Lead and partner with Metal Suppliers (sheet metals, aluminum extrusion, casting, sintering, machining) to design and fabricate tools for parts fabrication to meet drawing specifications, quality and cost metrics.Conduct Suppliers audits, Suppliers performance reviews, business continuity plan, Suppliers financial performance, request for quotes and part award selection rationale and other procurement management processes.Conduct regular checkpoint meetings with Program Teams to effectively communicate and to gain alignment to implement initiatives to deliver predictable AOS (assurance of supply), cost and quality.Support Sustainability goals and Human Rights regulations as per RBA (responsible business alliance) standards.Frequent travels to Malaysia Suppliers base and Manufacturing Partners is required and flexible work hours to work with Design Centers in Barcelona and USA.Individuals who do well in this role at HP, usually possess:5-10 years hands-on experiences in metal forming (like sheet metals)  or plastic injection industry.Hands-on experiences in using 2D and 3D CAD applications like Creo, ProE or SolidWorks.Excellent working knowledge in Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing and statistical quality processes.Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related scientific discipline.A higher degree in master’s in engineering or business will be advantageous to the applicant.Sustainable impact is HP’s commitment to create positive, lasting change for the planet, its people, and our communities.
