Change.org is searching for a fixed-term Communications Manager to be responsible for leading and managing Team Canada. We want to help them go even further and we need your help!  You will report to our Marketing and Communications Director as a key member of our Marketing and Communications team. In this role, you will be balancing your time between hands-on tactical communications work (80% of your time) and people management responsibilities (20%). Key Outcomes: Consistently gain strong, on-brand media coverage for petitions in Canada, pitching to targeted media outlets on a daily basis  Lead and manage a small team of two in Canada, ensuring that the team is working effectively, experimenting, learning constantly and hitting all of our goals  Share media and public relations expertise, including news room insights and demographic information about audiences across Canada Collaborate with global leads to share learnings and stay up to date about what is working effectively in other country markets Find and explore opportunities to grow and develop our brand in Canada, building and maintaining key relationships with media, influencers, organizations, activists, decision makers and community leaders  The most important skills and capabilities for the role are: Communications: You are advanced in comms outreach skills. You have a flair for creative media relations or engaging multimedia strategies and you're an expert in some specific outreach skills. You know how to make a highly effective pitch and to develop a media strategy that would gain attention of decision makers and the public.  You have an extensive network in Canada which is a testament to your ongoing, impactful relationships with journalists and influencers across various sectors like entertainment or politics.  You have an advanced understanding of the PR and social landscape in Canada , with a knack for predicting exciting editorial calendars and pinpointing key figures for content distribution.  You have exceptional communication skills that make complex topics a breeze for any audience or stakeholder.  You have expertise in strategy and data-driven decision-making.  Management:  You can autonomously manage a team , you know how to allocate resources effectively to achieve the goals, you provide regular timely guidance to your direct reports and deliver constructive feedback on daily operations, you’re flexible and adapt well in multifaceted roles. Your dedication to investing in, nurturing, and fostering the growth of others is an essential aspect of your approach. Your commitment to coaching others reflects your dedication to elevating the entire team, leveraging your tactical expertise to set new standards. Target experience: 5-8 years of experience across one or more of the following: media, comms, brand, public relations 1-2 years of management experience leading a team  Interested? Great! Here's what you should know: This is a full-time 8-month  fixed term role (parental leave coverage). While we strongly prefer folks living in Toronto or on EST , we are open to folks working remotely from anywhere in Canada.  Target start date: Mid January, with the 8-month contract running until mid September. Change.org is a global company and salaries are adjusted for cost of labor depending on location. The annual salary for the Comms Manager, Canada is 131,000 CAD, which will be prorated for an 8-month term. Benefits and perks also vary based on location.
