Android Technical Program ManagerDescription -HP Retail and Industrial Solutions Business has a large and growing Android point of sale terminal portfolio. Android is of increasing importance in market and HP is leading the industry by providing well designed, robust, built for purpose hardware with Android OS. This role is responsible for managing the delivery of the Android OS across the portfolio. The Android Technical Program manager has a dual role as the subject matter expert on Android OS for our business and the program manager for the delivery of the OS on our platforms. The TPM will serve as a bridge between the cross functional (HW Engineering, Supply Chain, Product Management) teams and the vendor providing the OS. TPM is the primary technical point of contact between HP and the OS vendor, setting specs, defining test plans, and solving problems. As subject matter expert, the TPM will work with Product Management to tell the story to our customers. TPM will work directly with customers to answer questions and resolve issues.Responsibilities:Develop requirements for future Android images.Translate feature requests from Sales and Product Management into Engineering Specs.Work with Google to understand changing certification requirements and tools.Understand and manage all the process required to build and release an Android image.BIOS and HW component changes, vendor builds, certifications, HP internal Open Source and privacy reviews, Google waivers, signing, image release to HP factories, HP.com updates, and restore mechanisms.Image deliveryInstalled base updates delivered over the web.Build recovery images and place them on HP.com. Build factory images and provide to factory / ensure factory has correct setup. Program ManagementSubmit formal certification requests to 3rd party certification lab and work to resolve and issues in certification. Vendor technical relationshipSchedulesPOs to vendors. Equipment purchases as needed.
