Position Overview:
The primary responsibility of the Senior Revenue Accountant is to ensure the recognition of revenue in accordance with US GAAP, specifically focusing on the proper application of US GAAP for ASC 606 Revenue from Contracts with Customers.
This position involves managing the product catalog and ensuring the correct revenue treatment for new packages and products. Additionally, the role includes participation in ad-hoc technical accounting projects and maintaining high visibility within the organization to ensure accurate application of US GAAP for new company-wide initiatives.
Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Accounting, the Senior Revenue Accountant will closely collaborate with both the Senior Director, Revenue Operations, and the Chief Accounting Officer. We are seeking an individual with exceptional problem-solving skills who thrives in a challenging and dynamic environment, contributing to our ongoing success.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in the monthly, quarterly, and annual general ledger closing process
Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the business operations, financial reporting, and the general ledger structure for all of Diligent’s legal entities
Identify non-routine revenue transactions, perform revenue calculations, record journal entries, and maintain appropriate supporting documentation
Support in all compliance related matters as assigned including, but not limited to the group audit and all statutory audits worldwide
Support integration of acquired businesses, including the convergence of revenue recognition policies and integration of acquired products into the product catalog.
Remain apprised of new accounting standards updates issued by the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) and assist with the necessary implementation, as necessary
Contribute to the efficiency of the Accounting team by participating in cross training, sharing job responsibilities, and serving as position backup for other team members
Build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders throughout the organization, including FP&A, Sales, and Marketing
Develop and maintain appropriate internal accounting controls, systems, and procedures to ensure both timely and accurate financial reports
Document policies, procedures and workflows for their areas of responsibility as well as support company-wide documentation, when necessary
Develop and implement process improvement initiatives making accounting processes more accurate and efficient while maintaining and enhancing business reporting initiatives
Provide support or act as accounting lead in enterprise-wide initiatives and assist in other special projects, including system upgrades/implementations, new product offerings, and other ad-hoc projects as assigned
Required Experience/Skills
Bachelor’s degree in accounting; CPA or equivalent required.
Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP required
5 years accounting experience required
NetSuite (or similar ERP) and Salesforce (or similar CRM) experience preferred
Experienced with accounting concepts related to the software industry and international accounting is strongly preferred.
Strong written and oral communication and ability to relate and communicate effectively across all levels both inside and outside the accounting department.
Hands-on, energetic, organized, team player with proven ability to adapt quickly in a changing environment and facilitate change, multitask effectively and work independently.
Ability to prioritize projects, quickly determine the requirements to accomplish them, and analyze the processes to figure out how to simplify, automate, and improve them for increased efficiency.
Excellent attention to detail.
Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information and a sense of strong business ethics.
